Pest infestations in your building can cost you a ton. In January of this year, a building in Marin City has been forced to reconcile long overdue pest inspections. Heres how to avoid massive bills for rodent or other pest control.
Marin City tenant relocated over rat infestation
In Marin city, a tenant is being moved to new building by the Marin Housing Authority which has agreed to provide an emergency Section 8 housing voucher to a Golden Gate Village tenant with rats in her apartment.
According to the Mercury News story, the authority spent $18,000 in 2018 on pest control since mid-April 2018 and exterminated seven rats and 15 mice and has since switched to a yearly maintenance service for pest management costing around $70,000 a year.
Unfortunately, in Marin and Sonoma county because of our proximity to nature, pest and rodent infestations are all to common. There are things we can do to manage pests like rodents, and insects.
Here’s how to do it:
Apply an environmentally friendly essential oils around the perimeter of the buildings to repel rodents and other crawling insects (made of rosemary, peppermint and wintergreen)
Clean up landscaping near the building
Remove all debris and garbage around the building
